Fete de Musique Celebration - June 21, 2008


Laguna Beach celebrates its new Sister City, Menton, France, with its first annual Fete de Musique.

12 Noon - Celebration festivities will begin with LBHS band director Phil Felix' brass quintet, "Infinity Brass" announcing the beginning of the opening ceremony at the Presbyterian Church Rose Garden. The Quintet will play "La Marseilleise" and America, the Beautiful. A classical jazz ensemble from the Laguna Community Concert Band will begin playing music from "Jazz Suite" by French composer, Claude Bolling.

12:10 - Introduction of French and Laguna Beach Dignitaries: Toni Iseman, Master of Ceremony Kathy Sizer, Minister of Presbyterian Church; Jane Egly, Mayor of Laguna Beach; Didier Rousseliere - Consulate General of France, Dr. Robert Fraisse - Superintendent of Schools, Laguna Beach Unified; Odile Odewar - Instructor of French at Laguna Beach High School; Amelie M'Baye - Professional performer from Senegal who will sing an African greeting song in African and French; Karyn Philippsen - President of the Laguna Beach Visitors Bureau and closing remarks by Toni Iseman

12:30 - Amelie M'Bye leads audience in "Together" in English

Immediately following music at various venues on Forest Ave.

12:30 to 2:45 - It all happens on Forest Avenue
